Advert Analysis
Our advert was completed successfully.
For our advert, we rebranded Magnum ice cream. We chose this because we had to pick a product in which we could rebrand to appeal to a new audience. We had to plan our advert, and then go out and record. The task wasn't overly difficult, however we had to improvise when a member of our group wasn't there, and we recorded some things later than planned. She was in charge of paperwork and organizing times.
My job role was filming and acting. I enjoyed my role because I am familiar with a camera, and I got to play a fun acting role.
To improve our advert, we could have improved the sound quality.

Evaluation of my role
For my group, I had to record shots with a camera and act for a short part of the short film. This meant that I had to be familiar with a camera, and know how to use one correctly. I was also in charge of storyboarding, as I am familiar with art.
I knew how to zoom, adjust the focus and set the ISO so that each shot was clean, and pleasing to look at, and I knew a variety of camera angles to give the film more angular diversity.
For acting, I had to remember my lines which involved me rehearsing with my group.

Depict Analysis
'Ideas are Illegal'
https://www.depict.org/2017/ideas-are-illegal/?category_request=2017
The narrative of this short film is showing workers in a factory of some sort with unlit light bulbs on their heads, to represent the fact that ideas are illegal. They are not allowed to think for themselves, and when one worker begins to think and has an idea, their own light bulb lights up and sparks attention with the other workers. The worker is caught by a security camera and chased by a huge hand, which could portray a 'creator' of some sort. When the worker reaches a safe place, they begin to remove their light bulb, and they smash it onto the ground before joining the other workers.
The scenery of this video is almost always grey and dull, to show the gloominess and fear of not being able to think without punishment. There are also machines in the background, which the workers seem to be using; perhaps this portrays slavery, as the workers have no rights to freedom. The only colours shown in the video are when the worker has flashes of ideas, and when their light bulb glows a bright yellow against the grey scenery around them. This gives a clear representation that ideas are the key to freedom, however they are caught and chased away until they are forced to remove the light bulb to stop any future ideas.
'Winnow'
https://www.depict.org/2017/winnow/?category_request=2017
In this film, a man climbs inside a magical tree and falls deep down into the ground. He removes his belongings and strips his clothes, before hitting the ground and crawling into the light, where a new sapling sprouts from the ground directly above him.
This short film is bright and colourful, to show magic and wonder, especially when the camera pans in on the tree. During the falling sequence,

After playing out a role in the ‘Doctor Who’ Two Part Story (2005), and
landing two films in one year (Never Let Me Go, The
Social Network), Andrew Garfield once again sets out to play the role of
our beloved superhero Peter Parker, or most commonly known as ‘Spider-Man’; the
comedic webhead with smart wits, amazing reflexes and a cocky attitude.

Short Film - Ideas
Initial
Idea Post
Our first
thoughts for our 90 second short film are that it is going to be based upon a
game of Monopoly, there will be 4 characters and our props that we will use
will include a monopoly board, a table and a set of chairs. All 4 characters
will be playing the game for some of the short film but one of the characters
will leave and then a standoff will happen. We plan to do a range of shots
including a slow motion shot and also close up shots, there will be some
dialogue throughout the film but the majority of it will be during the first
30-40 seconds. Matthew will be wearing a suit as a costume and Charlotte will be wearing a Black dress to
ensure the atmosphere stays formal, we will be using 3 Prop guns because there
will be a standoff where everyone gets out of their chairs and aims at each
other. We will be shooting in the
__________ in our college and will be using Canon 700D to shoot the film and
will be using tripods and lighting (if possible).
